Diarrhea

Possible Symptoms:

loose, frequent, watery bowel movements

cramps

reduced appetite

nausea

vomiting/throwing up

fever

body aches

Diarrhea is a common problem at any age. A sudden change in diet is a common cause of some short-lived loosening of bowel movements. The rapid onset of frequent, loose bowel movements without bleeding, however, is usually the result of a viral illness or stomach flu. Mild diarrhea in a child whose intake of fluids and food remains normal is not usually serious and does not require a visit to the nurse/doctor. More serious diarrhea requires specific diet planning and close monitoring to make sure that dehydration does not develop. It may take from 7 to 10 days for bowel movements to return to normal. If the diarrhea contains blood, you should see a nurse/doctor.
